The free-standing marble legs, seemingly precariously balanced beneath the floating plane of glass create an almost magical feel for this coffee table as there seems to be no logical explanation for why it does not collapse. Available in both round and rectangular versions this table works equally well as a stand-alone piece as well as part of a combination set to create a larger piece that is flexible enough to work in almost any layout. Unlimited combinations of colour and texture are available through the mingling of materials and form when blending two tables together.

Building on the ideas explored in the marble and glass version of this table we developed a way to work with the material of wood to achieve a base which appears precariously balanced beneath the floating plane of glass. Available in both round and rectangular versions this table works equally well as a stand-alone piece or as part of a combination nesting set to create a larger piece that is flexible enough to work in almost any layout. Unlimited combinations of species and colours are available through the mingling of materials and form when blending two tables together.

The driving idea behind the design of this piece was the desire to create a table that could be extended infinitely. The double layering of the top combined with differing heights of each table allows for a variety of nesting options that can expand in any direction as well as allowing for a single table that can be used in smaller spaces or as a larger end table.

The coffee table version of this table explores similar ideas to the dining table Great Expectations that inspired the design for this piece. The offset base allows for a variety of differing visuals depending on the line of sight while the thin plane of the circular or oval shaped top floats above. Available in both wood and marble this table can be nested with a second table to allow combinations that can fit any space.

One idea that I am consistently playing with is developing objects which can be repeated to create combinations that shift the appearance of a piece depending on how they are placed in relation to each other. This coffee table is, in reality, made up of three identical side tables which are rotated sixty degrees to each other to create the classic form of a triangle. The contrast of the skewed pentagon of each individual table top plays off the contrast with the final form which can, of course, be configured in multiple compositions with unlimited possibilities depending on the number of tables being used and the manner in which they are arranged.

A coffee table consisting of a slab of marble which appears to float above a base of ultra-clear or bronzed glass. By hand shaping the underside of the marble slab this floating effect is a simple gesture that elevates the design in a subtle yet compelling manner. One table, multiple configurations. By tilting a box in two directions and experimenting with the number and configuration of the tables, dynamic forms emerge that create numerous possibilities for the look and feel of the finished piece. The angle of the sloped side also creates an unexpected footrest when positioned parallel with a sofa or chair and adds a level of playfulness to the overall design.

To float a thin slab of marble six inches above the ground with the simple reverse pyramid form which tapers down to a 3/8” thick edge. The idea of a low table is inspired by the Japanese tea tables which acts as much as a podium as it does a table surface.

The title of this piece refers to a novel by the Irish writer Flann O’Brien at swim – two – birds which in its most basic interpretation is a book about somebody who is writing a book. The novel is layered in nuances and meaning which is what inspired the idea of placing a table within another so as to call into question which is the real table. Is the glass box to be interpreted solely as a display case in the way a museum protects its artifacts or is it perhaps something more?

This all marble table offsets a rectangular top over a triangular base creating a piece that is both simple and complex, one that shifts in appearance from delicate and light to solid and grounded. The weight of the base allows for an alternating single or double cantilever when viewed from opposite elevations. Available in various marbles there is also the opportunity to create them in custom sizing and pairs which can be nested if so desired.

The visual impact of this table depends on how it is positioned as it can be perceived primarily as a large monolithic block or as an extreme cantilever that seems to defy possibility. When combining two tables together there are various configurations which allows for several interesting and dynamic combinations of materiality and form due to the double-sided nature of each piece.

A simple table with a subtle gesture where the marble top appears to float above the glass base. Achieved by hand shaping each piece of stone, the thin edge disguises the actual thickness of marble while achieving a sense of disconnect from the glass base. The result is a unique piece that retains a feeling of fragility and delicateness combined with the rich texture of the marble top.

This table was the result of an investigation into combining the two main methods of sculpture, namely the removal of mass from an object vs the application of material. The final form is divided into a specific number of layers which are then, in a sense reassembled using the stack lamination method to create the finished piece. The simplicity of the circular top and how it relates to the asymmetrical base as it twists and turns creates a sense of visual play that remind me of certain movements seen in contemporary dance.

This sofa delicately entwines the worlds of art and design creating a piece where the notions of stability and tension are balanced with the desire to ground a piece within a larger context. Combining the exaggerated cantilever of the seat plane and the monolithic aspect of the large slab (back) forces the sofa to be considered from both the front and rear creating an element that can float within a larger space. The vertical plane acts as a divider allowing separation both functionally and aesthetically and creates a visual anchor to any space regardless of its scale.
